Hopi Ear Candle (30mins) £15.00

Ear candling – or thermo-auricular therapy as it is also known – refers to an ancient, non-invasive complementary therapy designed to help treat conditions associated with the ear, nose and throat.  It is a technique that involves placing a hollow, cone-shaped tube (or ‘candle’) made of cotton, soaked in beeswax, honey and herbs into the ear canal in order to stimulate the ear and facilitate the removal of excess wax and impurities.

HEALING CRISIS

Also known as the “Herxheimer Reaction”, this reaction occurs when the body tries to eliminate toxins at a faster rate than they can be properly disposed of.  The more toxic one’s bodily systems are, the more severe the detoxification, or healing crisis.  It is characterized by a temporary increase in symptoms during the cleansing or detox process which may be mild or severe.  You may feel worse and therefore conclude that the treatment is not working.  But these reactions are instead signs that the treatment is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances.

Such reactions are temporary and can occur immediately or within several days, or even several weeks, of a detox.  Symptoms usually pass within 1-3 days, but on rare occasions can last several weeks.  Most people feel somewhat ill during the first few days of a cleanse because it is at that point that your body dumps toxins into the blood steam for elimination.

Cause

The healing crisis is the result of every body-system, in concert, working to eliminate waste products through all elimination channels and set the stage for regeneration.  The end result: old tissues are replaced with new.  When any treatment of cleansing program causes a large scale die-off of bacteria, a significant amount of endotoxins (toxins within the bacteria itself) are released into the body.  The more bacteria present, and the stronger their endotoxins, the stronger the cleansing reaction.  When any treatment of detox causes the organs of the body (particularly the liver, which is a storehouse of drug and poison residues) to release their stored poisons and toxins, a cleansing reaction may occur.

Symptoms

The healing crisis will usually bring about past conditions in whatever the body is capable of handling at that time.  There are a wide variety of reactions that may manifest during a healing crisis, the most common are:

  • Increased joint or muscle pain
  • Diarrhoea
  • Extreme fatigue and/or its opposite, restlessness
  • Cramps
  • Headache (believed to be caused by build up of toxins in the blood)
  • Insomnia
  • Nausea
  • Sinus congestion
  • Fever (usually low grade) and /or chills
  • Frequent urination and/or urinary tract discharges
  • Drop in blood pressure
  • Skin eruptions
  • Cold or flu like symptoms
  • Strong emotions: anger, despair, sadness, fear etc.
  • Anxiety
  • Mood swings

Easing your way through the Healing Crisis

Drink plenty of fresh water, juices and herbal teas to flush the body of toxins.  Drink from 2-4 (litres) per day.  This will help flush the toxins out of your system and speed along the detoxification.  If you are feeling sleepy, your body is talking to you and telling you to rest.  Be kind to yourself and get the rest that you need.

What is Reiki?

The name Reiki is Japanese in origin, and comes from two Japanese kanji – “Rei” (the universal consciousness) and “ki” (universal life-force). It is an ancient healing art, which was lost to us, but then rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui during the early 20th century.  Reiki is a healing energy, which is both in and around all things.  The concept of this life-force is well known, and is also known by many other names, the most common being Ch’i (Chinese), Ki (Japanese), Prana (Indian), Orenda (Native American) and Mana (Polynesian).

Reiki is an intelligent and powerful energy, and must be treated with due respect at all times.  It brings about positive life changes, inner peace and harmony, spiritual awakening and promotes your own well-being.

The benefits of receiving a Reiki treatment may include Detoxification, relaxation, pain-relief, emotional healing and balance between mind, body and spirit.  Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki practise does not rely upon any belief system – it stands alone as a therapy; equally, it in no way conflicts with any religion.  People from all walks of life practice Reiki and many have even found that it strengthens their faith. There are no know contra-indications to receiving Reiki-Seichem anyone of any age, or physical condition can enjoy a treatment.

Reiki

A Reiki is very simply performed, the practitioner places his or her hands upon the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and then the energy begins flowing. The energy knows where to go, and what to do once it gets there.  The energy manages its own flow to and within the recipient. It draws through the healer exactly that amount of energy which the recipient needs. All this happens without direct conscious intervention by the healer.

Treatment

The method of receiving a Reiki treatment is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position, the main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 45 mins to 1 hour with each position held for several minutes
